Construction on Phase I of the
Carousel building is complete for the glass "bump-out"
facing High Street in which the Derek Scott Saylor
Memorial Carousel will soon be re-assembled and
visible. The Carousel project continues to seek
donations to help fund the building project, which
is made possible by the generous gifts of individual
donors as well as by grant monies.
The Borough of Pottstown has been
a stalwart partner in this project, helping to
acquire the site and working with us to win approvals
Borough Council's recent unanimous agreement to
re-negotiate and extend our lease on the building
is welcome evidence of their continued commitment.
Certainly among the most important
partners has been Montgomery County, whose generous
revitalization grant put our project on the map
and demonstrated an unwavering faith in Pottstown
that we hope to grow in the coming years.
We look forward to more success,
with planning now underway for the Carousel of
Flavor on September 26, 2010 and a new initiative
selling holiday ornaments based on our carousel
animals, so remarkably decorated by our volunteer
art crew. That crew's steady and largely unsung
efforts will be the core of our success as a quality,
quality of life project.
A shout-out is also due to you
all at The Mercury, whose support has been constant
and appreciated.
Of course, our thanks to the people
of this community who have supported us in countless
ways, from sponsoring carousel animals to attending
our Casino Nights to enjoying all our best restaurants
have to share at the Carousel of Flavor.
